Final Day in Key West

With most of our desired activities for the trip checked off the list, our final day was marked with a few leisurely meanderings.

We walked around the corner to Ana’s Cuban Café, one of the cuisines we had yet to try.

A shared plate of Cuban roast pork, rice, black beans, fried plantains, and Cuban toast was filling and good, albeit a bit salty, and the “Cuban toast” resembled a slice of white roll with butter…

A few blocks further down the street we located Barefoot Billy’s paddle board rentals, and Julian treated me to an hour of stand up paddle boarding while he hung out on the beach.

It took me a few minutes to regain a sense of balance and keep my feet under me, but eventually it came back and I had a blast paddling around the area!

Meanwhile Julian snapped some lovely photos as the day moved toward sunset.

For our final meal we opted to try Key West Fish and Chips, having walked past it every night for a week and seen it perpetually filled with diners.

We discovered that it was a food truck set up with a more permanent looking dining area. The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed our baskets of fried fresh grouper and half fried, half grilled shrimp. Each came with a side of fries and coleslaw as well. Some of the most reasonable prices we’ve paid for food on the island as well. Definitely recommended!

And so we say goodbye to Key West, Florida!
