Beach Bumming in Manuel Antonio

Sure can’t beat waking up to this view in the morning. We love our Airbnb place perched on the hill overlooking the Pacific coast between Quepos and Manuel Antonio.

We spent the bulk of the day on Playa Espadilla where the boys rented surf boards ($10 each for two hours) and I chilled on the beach with a book. Delightful!

Despite the rainy forecast, the sun shone all day long, only briefly eclipsed by clouds, and the 80 degree water provided a pleasant playground for our surfers.

As evening approached we relinquished our beach tent and lounge chairs (which we “rented” by purchasing lunch at a local restaurant in lieu of the 15,000 colons alternative charge) and made our way into Quepos.

Our first order of business was to schedule the required Covid-19 test for re-entry into the U.S. at the conclusion of our trip. We attempted to schedule it first at the Hospital, but they were completely booked for two weeks out. the receptionist referred us to the 6 Sigma Laboratories, which was thankfully still open and had plenty of availability to schedule our test for Monday morning.

Next it was time to replenish all the calories expended at the beach, so we stopped in at the highly-rated Soda Sanchez. The rating was well-deserved!

This plate of Casado con Pollo en Salsa was only 3,500 colons ($5.66) and was delicious! Each of the other orders were equally substantial, tasty, and inexpensive. Our server was fantastic. Highly recommended!

We ended the night with a stroll along the sea wall watching the final hues of the sunset fade into the night sky. Pura vida!
