Farewell to Costa Rica
Our final morning we were again feasting on the fare lovingly prepared by “Grandma” at Finca Organica San Luis. In addition to the delectable torte, today’s selection included pesto-filled empanadas and fresh-squeezed fruit juice. Yum!
Following breakfast we took a self-guided tour around the farm. Placards along the way labeled each section of the farm. However, it was in Spanish, so we still don’t know what most of it was…
We stopped in to say hi to “Grandma” and her assistant, who were busy preparing lunch for an agricultural group on their wood-burning stove.
Felicia graciously took a break from her full load of tasks to share some of the intricacies of the farm operations with us. They are very conscientious about preserving the environment and making everything they can in-house, including fertilizer and organic pesticide.
For our final Pura Vida moment at the airport, we treated ourselves to a cup of gelato, generously scooped by our “mae” (Costa Rican for “dude”) at the counter.
Both of our flights went smoothly, and just seven hours after lifting off from Costa Rica, we touched down in Wichita. We were greeted by our 17-year old son in his pink bunny suit, alerting us to a dire situation at home. Our eight days in Costa Rica were delightful, but apparently it was time for us to come home.
